Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Can I write a check to the church to be given for a specific cause such as a person in need or organization?

A: Unfortunately we cannot accept such gifts.  If you see a specific need you may alert the deacons to it by using the assistance form found on this website.  You may then write a check and send a note with it, but we cannot gaurantee the money will be used for your specific request.

Q: I'm aware of someone in need, who should I contact?

A: You may contact a pastor, any of the deacons listed to the right, or simply print the Assistance Form on this website and return it to a deacon, pastor or the church office.

Q: Do you track my giving for tax purposes?

A: Yes, but only for gifts through the envelope system.  Loose checks and cash are not tracked and will not be included in the year end summary each family receives in January.

Q: I'm not a member, can I have envelopes?

A: Yes, please contact the church office or a deacon listed to the right and we will get you a box of envelopes.

Q: Is the Building Fund now called the Open Doors Capital Campaign but is the same fund?

A: No, these are two separate funds, please see the descriptions of each fund on the giving page.

Q: Are contributions to the building fund still needed?

A: Yes, the building fund continues to be needed for upkeep of the current facilities.

Q: Can I place my Open Doors commitment check in my offering envelope?

A: Yes, but please mark it clearly on the envelope and check so we correctly account for your gift.

Q: How and when do the deacons count the offering and what would be helpful for the congregation to know about the process?

A: The deacons have a system in which we assign four deacons to collect and count offering for every service during a month. Each group of four determines when it works best to count, but is usually between services or after second service.  Because of this, a gift may not be counted until the following week and not show on your bank statement for 8 to 10 days.  What helps in counting is if you use the boxes provided on the envelope to write amounts for each fund and use one check total.  Also, there is no need to fold or tape envelopes.

If you have a question for the deacons please email the question to the church office and it will be directed to Deacon's for an answer.
